Kauai Automated Fuels Network was established in 1989 to provide a 24 hour commercial fueling station at the Senter Petroleum facility in Lihue Industrial Park Phase II. The popularity of this facility was immediate and many companies signed up for their card to use the facility.
The value of being part of this system was soon recognized during the aftermath of Hurricane Iniki when it was the only facility open to provide fuel for the many emergency vehicles that were involved in the clean up. Businesses recognized that having the "K" card was invaluable during this kind of emergency.
The network was expanded soon after 1992 and now includes 7 locations around the island of Kauai.
